
U.K.- based, Hudson Architects‘, Cedar House is the prototype design for a cedar shingle-clad (even the roof), 2 bedroom, prefab, modern farmhouse. Lots of windows, a simple floorplan, off-site construction and a form intended to integrate into the English countryside make this an eye-catching little home. The house, which is located in North Elmham, Norkfolk, U.K., was designed and built a few years ago to address the U.K.’s housing demand.

The ecotourism hub of the Americas—Costa Rica—is a hot spot for green globetrotters. Every year, tourists hungry for a change to their annual beach vacation routine consider the lush undergrowth of Central America, picturesque with its vast stretches of sandy beaches, mirrored by dense rainforests. For this reason, the country has rapidly grown into a tourism-driven destination, where eco efforts rise above greenwash, but oftentimes, not by much.

Day Two of TheGreenShows‘ eco fashion runway scene kicked off with Chicago-based Lara Miller’s Spring 2010 collection complemented by designer Gina Ferraraccio’s edgy vegan shoe line, Cri de Coeur.

Miller’s “Wear it Your Way” sultry line is crafted locally from certified organic cotton, hand-loomed wild-harvested bamboo, raw silk and recycled cotton fibers. Models blew by in breezy layers of skirts, tops and dresses made of lightweight knits and sheer fabrics in shades of quiet blue, cream, grey and burnt mauve …
