Seven competitive brands (Billabong, DAKINE, Electric, O’Neill, Famous Wax, Nixon and Reef) in the multi-billion surf dollar industry have come together with a complementary product line under the Project BLUE umbrella to make a difference and clean-up the oceans and beaches. A portion of the proceeds of each sale supports the Surfrider Foundation and their coastline protection initiatives worldwide. This is an awesome brand partnership that’s two years young. Innovations and eco benefits have taken place on several levels — to date, more than 5 million PET bottles have been diverted from landfills and turned into stylish boardshorts using the Eco Supreme Fabric (the same fabric Billabong uses in the project BLUE boardies for men and women). Jump in and get on board.

live smaller – smaller house, smaller house – one car, one tv, buy less use less
I use a filtered pitcher for water instead of buying bottled water.
I reduce waste from my household by actively sorting out anything that is recyclable and reusing containers generally deemed single-use.
I recycle way more and use my own totes when grocery shopping.

buy products with recyclable containers. We don’t use store bags anymore, we have our own we carry to the stores. If we see trash on camping trips left by others our kids pick it up and throw it away.

I avoid buying bottled water at all costs. I’m a big fan of Brita filters and aluminum water bottles.
We no longer buy bottled water. We filter our water at home and use metal travel bottles on the go.
No bottled water
I ride the bus everywhere, even if it means adding an extra hour to my commute. Which in LA, it often does.
I carpool whenever possible, I always recycle, and I always, ALWAYS cut the soda can plastic rings into teeny tiny pieces!

I run the recycling for my office and all the offices on my floor, two recycle bins, and all the money I earn from the CRV itmes goes directly to a charity supporting single moms.
I eat a vegetarian diet and save more CO2 emissions than someone driving a hybrid. :) I need to work on getting a compost though (very difficult in my condo)
recycle more and use less energy
Stop using disposable lunchbox wraps and containers and individually-sized packages.

My son is a surfer and we all love the beach. As a family, we’ve done many of these tips for years. When we go to the beach, not only do we pick up our own trash, we pick up any other trash from others that we see. We also use drought resistant plants in our garden, properly dispose of motor oil and rake and bag yard clippings. Thanks for posting these good tips that are easy for all to do.
