The food vs fuel debate was ended by the CBO. The myths live on among the undereducated.
Repeat after me: if we had no ethanol at all, we would still have surplus corn (as we have had every year since ethanol got big), we would still have agricultural pollution, we would still have starvation around the world. Period.

“Undereducated” – ouch! That report by the CBO says a lot of things including that the use of corn to produce ethanol does indeed incrementally increase food costs to consumers (beef anyone?) and land use issues can contribute to cost increases for other crops like soybeans. As the world population grows so will the controversy surrounding food as fuel. Like a lot of climate issues this one is probably far from resolved. I guess I’ll go back to school.
