  • “Change is at hand” – an art contest for “reusable personal hand towels made from 100% organic cotton.” Eco-Conscious Artists Can Win “Green” with Design for  a New PeopleTowel – $1,750 in prizes available; Winning towel design will be sold on Earth Day – with the grand prize winner getting a piece of each sale.  Design submissions will be accepted between February 4, 2010 and February 26, 2010.  The design receiving the most votes on www.peopletowels.com will be awarded the Grand prize of $1000, the second prize design will receive $500 and the third prize design $250.

  • action for nature.org – Get those kids back to nature – Action For Nature, a San-Francisco-based non-profit, is now taking applications for the 2010 International Young Eco-Hero Awards, which honors youngsters ages 8 to 16 for their outstanding accomplishments in environmental advocacy, environmental health, research and protection of the natural world. Honorees will receive up to $500 cash, an award certificate, and other forms of recognition. The application deadline is February 28, 2010.
  • Can we have our live music without harming the planet?  Green Music Group celebrated their official launch recently in L.A. GMG is all about music and the environment – check it out @ www.greenmusicgroup.org.
  • Los Angeles based Green Youth Movement will present The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show, Saturday, March 20, 2010 1-4pm (PT).
  • These 2 events are a little bit down the road… Trashfusion Design Contest and Green Expo, May 1 & May 15, way up north in Ontario. The event will feature a runway show of fashions designed from recycled materials, with some lucky designer winning a $1,000 prize.
  • Brooklyn-based, DESIGN 21 has teamed up with IDEO to host the Living Climate Change Video Challenge. Grab your camera and create a video (running time not to exceed 2 minutes) that envisions how climate change will impact our lives and shape the future over the next 20 to 30 years.  Entries will be judged by experts on design and climate change and separated into two age categories: under 18 and 18+.  One winner in each category will receive a grand prize of $3,000 plus a “Deep Dive” half-day workshop with IDEO. Deadline for entries: Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
