From around the ecosphere, here’s our latest green stimulus package for your eyes, ears and mind.

- Make a note of this date: May 19th at 8:00p. The stage at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium will come alive with the Music Saves Mountains concert, presented by the Natural Resources Defense Council. The event will feature the largest gathering of musicians and celebrities coming together to raise money and awareness about mountaintop removal coal mining, a devastating practice that is destroying the Appalachian Mountains. Performers will include: Dave Matthews and Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, and more. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 5th at 10:00 a.m. by phone, the Ryman box office, and www.ryman.com. More info @ musicsavemountains.org

- Planet Green has some new original programming coming up at the end of March (the 29th to be exact), when the channel will launch a new primetime block of programming called “Verge.” The block will feature both new and popular (meaning, used?) content portraying inspired, passionate characters and stories about some who are trying to making a difference – watch them try to make a difference – some will succeed and some will fail…
- And a recap of previously mentioned, upcoming events — Los Angeles based, Green Youth Movement will present The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show, Saturday, March 20, 2010 1-4pm (PT).
- These 2 events are a little bit down the road… Trashfusion Design Contest and Green Expo, May 1 & May 15, way up north in Ontario. The event will feature a runway show of fashions designed from recycled materials, with some lucky designer winning a $1,000 prize.
- Brooklyn-based, DESIGN 21 has teamed up with IDEO to host the Living Climate Change Video Challenge. Grab your camera and create a video (running time not to exceed 2 minutes) that envisions how climate change will impact our lives and shape the future over the next 20 to 30 years. Entries will be judged by experts on design and climate change and separated into two age categories: under 18 and 18+. One winner in each category will receive a grand prize of $3,000 plus a “Deep Dive” half-day workshop with IDEO. Deadline for entries: Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
That’s it for now; keep that perspective green.

Thanks so much for the heads up.
If anyone is unfamiliar with this issue, here is a summary of it, using a UWV sponsored debate between a coal company CEO, and Robert Kennedy. It’s a fairly engaging debate, and worth watching start to finish.

Two things stand out: 1) that the CEO is actually in charge of a company, and 2) that this stuff was ever approved by any agency, and is still legal.
