gadget alert: dadahack’s TAP3 album on custom-made mp3 playing cassette hybrid

dadahack1.jpg

Now this is a cool way to distribute your latest album – the old cassette tape reborn as a new music player.

The band dadahack has created this personal music player (you can plug your headphones to the device) to distribute their TAP3 release.  The gadget plays in ordinary compact cassette players, and can be connected to your computer and loaded with more songs via mini-USB, which also charges the device’s lithium-ion battery.  Each audio device is numbered and constructed to order.

Each TAP3 cassette is hand-finished with a yellow stripe and features an inkjet printed sleeve, scored and hand cut.  The outer case is made from 100% recycled polypropylene in Scarborough, U.K..

Oh…the music is a tasty hybrid of danceable, retro-electronica infused with a smidge of Kraftwerk.  Lots of synth swirls and movements.

Matter of Trust – donate your hair to help contain oil spills

hair_on_salonfloor.jpg

Here’s a great way for salons, dog groomers and people who obsessively cut, and/or, collect hair to contribute to fighting oil spills.

Human hair and animal fur do a great job of absorbing oil while allowing water to pass through, making them a great lining for the booms and mats used to contain oil spills.  The folks at Matter of Trust can help you get your hair where it’s needed most right now.

Ask your hair salon or dog groomer to get involved. It’s also a great opportunity for teachers to get their students involved in both current events and helping the eco system.  Matter of Trust will get you started with all the info you need.

You can also donate cash to Matter of Trust directly, to help fund their educational and planet-friendly programs.
