Artist Jim Denevan creates temporary geometric drawings on sand, earth and other natural surfaces that are ultimately erased by Mother Nature’s natural processes. His brushes range from found materials like a large stick to the occasional gasoline powered vehicle (to achieve massive scale). Most, if not all, of his work is best viewed from above.

Relatively little, or no, raw materials are used in his creative – I’ll forgive him the gasoline for the truck and the fuel for the small plane used for photographing his work – as a small price to pay for the breathtaking impact of his work.

Now – can we call Jim’s work geoArt?

Hi,
You might be interested in Jim’s other artistic installations — long, linen-draped tables set literally between the soil and the sky in farm fields across North America. It’s Table to Farm dining, and Jim (who’s also a chef) has been doing it since 1999. The idea is to shine the spotlight on the people who put the food on our plates.
Jim and the Outstanding crew travel from coast to coast in a big red vintage bus … likely coming soon to a farm near you! Schedule at http://www.outstandinginthefield.com
Cheers ~ Lisa
