One of my eco heroes, do gooder Ed Begley, Jr. knows that not all toilets are created equal.

It was just announced that Begley’s hitched his wagon to Oshaway, Ontario-based Sancor Industries to help promote both the Envirolet® and Santerra Green composting toilet systems as economical and environment-friendly alternatives to traditional sanitation systems.
“Sancor’s composting toilets are the best I’ve seen on the market today,” said Begley. “I firmly believe in both the products and feel that composting toilets are a tangible way to help reduce your impact on the environment by transforming waste into usable compost.”
According to the company, “Both Envirolet and Santerra Green systems have more features than competing composting toilets, such as the patented Automatic Six-Way AerationTM, which speeds up the composting and evaporation process through forced air, heat and natural microbe action. Each product line comes in non-electric, 12VDC battery and AC electric models and offers both waterless and low water options.”
They’re perfect for: homes, cottages, cabins, work shops, basements, garages, pool cabanas or any location where sanitation is required.
Last year, Envirolet FlushSmart VF models were selected for the “25 Products That Might Just Change The World” by Bloomberg Businessweek and revolutionized the industry by changing the perception of what a composting toilet looks like. I wonder how much Mr. Begley has researched this product as he is putting his name behind it. I think he would find that this product does not do what it claims AT ALL! Bad play Ed.
I have owned one and it does not work. The design is so poor, I don’t think it can work – period. The fan continually blows hot air onto the compost pile making it into an adobe brick. This in turn jams up the sliding rake and basically pulls everything to the front of the toilet. You then have to push it back with a paddle. It is a nightmare. You can’t even put toilet paper into it. I bought this toilet from Craigslist because I thought I was getting a great deal. But apparently the toilet didn’t work for the last user either. What a scam!
Hi Floyd – I’m sorry to hear that your experience with a second-hand Sancor product didn’t turn out well. Buying from Craigslist is always risky. At Sancor, we are so confident in the Envirolet that we guarantee perfect performance with a comprehensive 5-year warranty on all parts. Unfortunately, we can’t extend that warranty to second-hand products.
If there had been a problem with the product itself, the original owner could easily have contacted us to resolve the issue. In addition to the comprehensive warranty, we offer free phone and website support. In the future, when you buy a Sancor product, please rest assured that we offer high-quality products and we stand behind them with extensive warranties and extraordinary customer service.
If you still have our product, please feel free to call us at (800) 387-5126 (USA), (800) 387-5245 (Canada) or visit us online at http://manual.envirolet.info/.
