Take something tired, old, and discarded and recycle it into a finely crafted piece of home furnishing. That’s just what South African designer, Katie Thompson and Recreate does. Infused with renewed energy and style in a new form, each of Katie’s pieces speaks to her unique design sense. We feature a few of our favorite furniture pieces – many made from old, upcycled luggage – after the jump.

I love the concept of recycled furniture. They always look cool and have a legacy behind them. My only problem is that they cost so much. Why not make them cheap so that they can fight conglomerates like IKEA? no pun intended:)
Wow, What a concept, great ideas really, not bad considering it’s part made from junk.
Love these, such a brilliant design idea! Agree about price however over at wacky house creations we keep our prices realistic – we up cycle but try to compete with price -after all we can’t reduce landfill if people can’t afford to buy recycled!
