As a child traipsing around in red rubber booties, I used to collect pretty little rocks in the stream near my home. I could spend hours getting lost in my thoughts, totally focused on finding just the right rocks. Looking back, I guess it was a different kind of stoned…how silly.

Anyone lucky enough to be in gay Paris at the moment can duck into Merci, a concept store with roots in philanthropy, and catch the launch of a traveling show with an educational slant. The Aigle exhibit, SAVOIR FAIRE SAVOIR VIVRE (know how/way of living) is dedicated to illustrating just how their natural latex rubber boots are made. (Most rubber produced is synthetic, PVC-based – derived from petroleum.) Established by Hiram Hutchinson, an American in Paris over 150 years ago, Aigle (meaning, eagle) reflects the ultimate in quality, handcrafted designer boots. The over-sized boot (above) is intended as a play area for kiddies.
Time and Place:
From 19 October to 6 November 2010
111 boulevard Beaumarchais 75003 Paris
All of the profits from this Merci event will be donated toward charitable institutions – a great way to say, Thank You! Aigle creates sleek boots for kids of all ages:)
