Take one recycled blue shipping container, add: flooring, large windows, a wildflower-filled green roof, a composting toilet and some tastefully selected retro furnishings, and you’ve created one sweetly stylish guest house.

The reclaimed container was chosen for its bold blue color. Floors and wall paneling are made of renewable bamboo. The container sits atop a foundation of telephone poles.

The award-winning Container Guest House is the creation of Austin, TX based Poteet Architects.

What a neat idea! It looks really cool too. I can understand why it won an award.
Love the innovation of turning a cargo container into such a plush and livable space. That roof is just amazing.
Its great to see more and more people taking on container based construction. project both large and small.
One of the hardest elements in this space is insulation, as a “steel box” they are more challenging to insulate that regular construction methods.
I have created a free 30 minute video on container homes and insulation for anyone interested in this area.
