Soon to be released: A pocket-sized, portable small device charger that just needs a sip of H2O to instantly charge your battery power-sucking iPhone – nice. Swedish fuel cell technology company myFC will soon be bringing its PowerTrekk fuel cell charger to energy-starved consumers who need portable, off-grid juice for their small gizmos.

Adding one tablespoon of water to the charger’s proprietary PowerPukk fuel pack will instantly provide power to their small electronic gadgets like smartphones, digital cameras and iPods. Power can also be provided via the charger’s internal battery pack.

Unlike solar chargers, fuel cell power is generated quickly. The fuel cell inside PowerTrekk is a completely passive system. Without fans or pumps, the fuel cell silently converts hydrogen into electricity while producing just a little water vapor. The charger will charge any small device that charges via USB. Its internal battery can also be charged from an external source via its USB charging port. One drawback of the charger appears to be that the PowerPukk fuel pack needs replacement after use, though it is stated to be recyclable.
