Here’s a green gadget that can help homeowners conserve water and cut down on their electric bill.
RainPerfect is a solar-powered pump for use with rain barrels. The RainPerfect pump system enables homeowners to more fully utilize off-grid water harvested in rain barrels by providing enough pressure to power a garden hose spray nozzle, or run low-pressure sprinklers.
RainPerfect’s features include:
- a rechargeable NiMH battery solar panel
- 3.5 solar panel
- adaptable top-mount installation
- standardized garden fixturing, ensuring compatibility with all major hose brands
- 100 gallon pumping capacity on a single charge, emptying most standard barrels
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that a rain barrel can potentially save most homeowners about 1,300 gallons of water during the peak summer months.
The system, which retails for for around $139, is made by Massachusetts-based ITT Flow Control, a leading producer of industrial pumps, valves, membranes.

Do you sew your own? Here’s a super-soft, organic cotton women’s t-shirt that expresses both your affinity for a fine play on words and fashioning clothes yourself.
Featured above is hand screen printed in blue ink on a black shirt, but they come in other color variations as well. Illustration is of the outline of the designer’s mom’s Singer Featherweight. Cool.

I don’t know if this clock’s graphic punch makes me think proton, or neutron. This retro-modern wall clock is created from renewable bamboo by Keith Moore of Pilot Design. Comes in two sizes.

Spoonk Space is an acupressure massage mat. We received a freebie for the purposes of this review, put it to the test, and here’s what we found:
It’s painfully cool. As crazy as it may look and sound, the hub and I both agree — this thing really works. It’s an easy to use, stress-buster. You just have to get over the scary first impression. There are over 6000 little points jutting up, ready to make contact with your skin.
There’s a fine line between pleasure and pain. When I first tried the mat, face-up with my back on the mat, I wasn’t sure I’d live to tell the tale. After overcoming the initial pain similar to lying on a bed of nails, we found that some of those aches and pains like shoulder and neck stiffness are alleviated.
It’s not a permanent fix, but much like acupressure, a temporary state of relief is achieved. After a 25-minute session, your back looks like it was hit with a meat tenderizing. And we experienced almost a light burning sensation. But that dissipates within a few minutes. In addition to feeling more relaxed, the hub (more…)
