Earth Day is Friday, April 22 – we’re featuring a green tip of the day from April 1-22.

Tip #14 – Just about everything we come in contact with can be either good or bad for our bodies and the planet – and that includes our sex toys. Can we really get down & dirty but be green & clean at the same time? Sure, just take pleasure in the most body- and eco-friendly way possible with toys made of sustainable materials and lubricants that are non-toxic. We thought we’d share a few suggestions.

(top photo, above) For starters – treat your skin to a delicious array of chocolate-based treats (organic and Fair Trade-certified) from coco-zen … the perfect mood enhancer. Or check out Earthly Body’s edible massage oils.

(above) Whenever things heat-up – go natural & kiss those synthetically derived potions good bye, get Eco-Sexy Kit $49 at Babeland. I don’t know about you, but phthalates scare the heck out of me. The starter kit includes: a solar powered vibe, organic lube, mood-enhancing candle and trusty condoms. Or, slap some re-chargeable batteries into their Lava Spot vibrator and have some fun.
For a wide array of healthy alternatives, check out Babeland’s Eco-April sex toys and feel good knowing Grist.org will get a piece of the action.
Here are a few other alternatives, some of which we’ve tried and like, to keep you green and clean while playing around:
- Ecorotic sex toys @ goodvibes.com
- natural personal lubricants, 95% organic @ aloe cadabra
- lubricants, oils and body candy @ good clean love
- vegan Birds ‘ Bees & Mamba Condoms from ozone condoms
Feel free to jump in with your eco sexy tip.

Sex toys are labeled as novelty products, as such, they do not need to pass stringent safe-for-consumers tests. you are putting a whole lot more into you when you insert something that is leeching chemicals and dioxines. better to stick with glass or safe-for-internal use silicone.
