(above) Jewelry designer Tamra Gentry designed this eye-catching Fordite MINI Necklace which features a small piece of rare, recycled Fordite*. The vibrantly swirling colors of the Fordite chip partner with a retro peace symbol in sterling silver to make a stunning little fashion statement. $125 @ the tamra gentry design studio’s supermarket web store.

*Fordite, which is in very limited supply, is the layered build-up of spray paint that accumulated during the old car manufacturing process of the 1960s and 1970s. Each color is the result of a separate and distinct paint job and was baked into layers. Since the fixtures weren’t cleaned after each paint job, layer upon layer built up until it had to be chipped off.
