Full disclosure: this is not an “advertorial of any sort” – just a true story that I had to share ’cause I recently had a brush with poison ivy, I tried this stuff and it really works!

I was going bonkers the other day, ready to jump out of my skin because of an allergic reaction to a plant that must have come into contact with my skin.

tecnu_Poison_Ivy.jpgHere’s what happened — after taking a walk along a pretty oceanside pathway, my ankle began to itch – so naturally, I began to scratch it. The itch subsided. Several hours later, the itch returned and wouldn’t go away. It was the middle of the night so I padded into the kitchen, opened my refrigerator door and don’t ask me why, but I dabbed some organic nonfat plain yogurt on it. Instant relief.

Next morning, I showered, gently cleansing the rash on my ankle. After drying off, the itch returned and became incessant. More yogurt, instant calm. Realizing this was only a temporary fix, and not having any anti-itch stuff on my shelves, I made my over to the nearest drug store to do some investigating.

I wound up at a CVS and quickly narrowed down my options to a variety of topical treatments ranging in price from about $5 to $42. I decided to fork over $15 for a homeopathic topical scrub. I wasn’t familiar with the company, the product or ingredients in the product but after just one use, I’m thrilled to say this stuff actually works. Just thought I’d pass the info along ’cause if you should experience a really allergic skin reaction don’t let it drive you stir crazy.

Tecnu’s Extreme Medicated Poison Ivy Scrub: relieves itching; soothes burning; removes poison oils. Ingredients: Grindelia Robusa & also contains alcohol and SD alcohol. The tube reads “works in 15 seconds” and no joke, it really does:)
