San Francisco-based, SunReports, a leading maker of residential solar energy monitoring for both solar PV and solar hot water systems, has announced a new tool for solar system owners. Consumers and businesses can now share their system performance data with friends on Facebook. This marks the first time a monitoring company has provided the ability for their customers to publicly display and share system performance within the popular social network.
SunReports believes that in creating a way for individual solar energy system performance to be shared via Facebook, individuals and businesses can amplify the visibility of their solar installations, offer branding opportunities for solar manufacturers and installers, facilitate a more global discussion of solar energy, and most importantly – proudly share the performance of their solar installation.
SunReports customers who opt into the Facebook tool can choose how often to publish their energy data onto their Facebook Wall: daily, weekly, or monthly. “Energy Performance Updates” include energy equivalents to make the data more intuitive – for example, equating solar energy created to miles driven in a car or tons of carbon dioxide emissions avoided. You can get more details on SunReports Facebook page.

That’s great news! Hopefully this will drive up interest and competition in solar technology.
