The highly anticipated Pixar film, Cars 2, finally opened this weekend. The movie did 68 million dollars at the box office by the end of its opening weekend. However, this sequel isn’t just about cars this time around; it’s also about the negative impacts of big bad oil companies.

In the story, Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his tow truck friend, Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy), head to the World Grand Prix to compete for the world’s fastest car title. The organizer of the Grand Prix fuels the vehicles with an alternative fuel called Allinol, pitting gas-guzzling vintage cars and SUVs against the new alternative and hybrid vehicles. (more…)
