Over the past few years many environmentalists and earth-conscious consumers have started using reusable water bottles to do their part in reducing the number of plastic bottles in the wastestream and floating around our oceans. While this effort does help reduce waste, many of these reusable bottles are made of either plastic or stainless steel, two materials that create both a carbon and chemical footprint in their manufacture. The Bamboo Bottle Company seeks to solve these problems with their new, stylish bamboo water bottle.
The bamboo water bottle is primarily comprised of two nearly inexhaustible materials – glass and fast-growing bamboo. The glass serves as the actual vessel of the bottle, while the bamboo takes care of heat insulation and shock absorption if the bottle is dropped. Because the bottle is made of glass, you will not be consuming plastic chemicals even when drinking hot beverages. The entire bottle is also BPA chemical free. The only plastic pieces of the bottle are the removable bottom and the sealing cap. The bamboo water bottle can be found for $25.00 at ecoshop.

Thanks for the shout out Tim! The Bamboo Water Bottle has been a great seller for us at Ecoshop. They are pretty indestructable and we expecially love that we are drinking from glass and not plastic.

I think that the concept of a bamboo water bottle is a great idea. But, does anyone know if the bamboo outside gets slick when it’s wet? The reason I’m asking is that I love to run with a water bottle but my hands tend to get sweaty. I’d hate to constantly keep dropping this thing if I purchased one. Thanks for posting this article by the way.
