Halloween is going to be here before you know it. This solar pumpkin lamp will add a smidgen of class to any ghoulish fall event – from your annual “Night of the Living Dead” costume party, to the obligatory evening barbecue, or spontaneous ritual dismembering.

The light consists of a repurposed glass pumpkin with a handmade, upcycled mason jar solar light inside. It charges via the sun during the day and creates a lovely Halloween atmosphere after dark.

Sweet – putting our dollars to work: With Halloween and Fair Trade month (October) in the USA around the corner – this just flashed across my eyes from across the pond – via The Telegraph:

Maltesers, the third biggest chocolate brand in Britain, is to become Fairtrade…This is the first time that Mars, the Maltesers manufacturer, has shifted production of one of its products to Fairtrade. If follows similar moves by rivals, including Nestle, whose KitKat is now Fairtrade and Kraft, which shifted some of its Cadbury Dairy Milk products into Fairtrade. Starbucks and McDonald’s have also stocked an increasing number ethically-sourced products in their outlets, a trend which has not always been cheered by cynical consumers. (more…)
