funky designer style meets reusable bags

cheeky_green.jpg

Founder Stefanie DiBenedetto of Cheeky Green sent me a freebee bag for the purpose of this Tried and True Green Product Review. After toting it around town for the past few days, here are the results of my test drive…it’s fun and funky.

boho_cheeky_green.jpgThis boho-chic reusable tote (right) is quite cute and scrunchy. And totally lightweight. The Harpo style holds 15 pounds of stuff, yet the bag itself can’t weigh more than a few ounces. It feels like paper, but it’s actually made from recyclable Tyvek, a building material created by DuPont in the 1950′s. The material itself is scrunchy, and a bit noisy. Not as bad as the original biodegradable Sun Chips bags, but noisier than say, cotton. The aural sensation is not necessarily a bad thing, just something to consider. I wouldn’t want to use it in a stealthy situation, like sneaking out the back door.

As marketed, the tote is designed as a stylish, multipurpose reusable bag – and it is. It’s perfect for yoga, beach, plane, city schlepping or carrying groceries. It comes with a detachable coin purse that can be used to carry many small things as well. (more…)

artonreclaimedwood1.jpgWhat better way to add some country style to your kitchen or weekend home than by adding some original art painted directly on a rustic chunk of reclaimed wood.

The original acrylic paintings pictured here are part of a series of food-based designs created by the husband and wife team of John and Gigi. All of the reclaimed boards in the series are chosen for their natural beauty and innate character. The calligraphy is hand painted and each piece is signed and dated by the artist Gigi.

the edible landscape garden – a deliciously green idea

ediblegarden1.jpg

The Atlanta Botanical Garden has created a beautiful area of colorful landscape gardens and a green wall (below) constructed entirely of edible vegetables, fruits and herbs. The Edible Garden, which first opened in 2010, was created to demonstrate that fruits and vegetables are not only healthy, but make beautiful landscape plants.
