I had the pleasure of receiving complimentary Mala Beads from Tiny Devotions for the purposes of this honest, Tried and True Green Product Review.
They offered to send me my choice of Mala Beads and I opted for Turquoise Ocean (purported to inspire communication, healing, balance). Upon opening the package, I was struck by how beautiful they were and couldn’t wait to try them. But first, a little background…
What, you may ask, are Mala beads? They’re prayer beads created primarily from a combination of seeds and gemstones. One special stone imbued with energetic qualities like love, healing, strength or fortune forms the centerpiece of a long necklace with 108 sacred Rudraksha seeds strung alongside. Such sacred seeds have been worn for thousands of years in traditions of yoga, Buddhism and Hinduism.
Although extremely lightweight, it seems Malas should not be taken lightly. The Mala beads and crystals transmute energy so one should be mindful of who touches them, and keeping them pure and clean. Traditionally, if a Mala breaks, the karma has been broken. As advised, be sure to attune your Mala to your energy you should use it everyday for the first 40 days by either using it for mantra meditation or wearing it.

So with this in mind, I’ve been wearing my beads for a portion of my day, every day for the past week. Because the necklace is light as a feather, it’s easy to forget I have it on. At first my biggest concern was to avoid breaking a bead for fear of bad karma but that thought seems to have melted away. I wear the necklace while working at my computer and sometimes running errands. But I enjoy them most while in my Kundalini class … they feel other-worldly as I hold them in hand and make my spiritual journey.
Do I feel any different? Yes, I feel stronger and more focused. But I’m not sure why. The power of suggestion? The power of the beads? I’d like to think so. Tiny Devotions’ Malas are handmade with love in Canada. You can find yours @ lovetinydevotions.com.
