An ageless crafting technique delivers a fresh piece of modern home decor…
Here’s a stylish way to transform, and re-use a wine bottle. Hand-knitted by Dutch designer Erica Hogenbirk, the Bloom vase cover is felted so it is soft, firm and slightly elastic. Each cover features a zippy retro-modern, green and white pattern.
A perfect display piece for a few flower stems, stately grasses or greens…cloak a bottle, create a vase.

Halloween is all about costumes and treats (what happened to the tricks?) … we’re all about having fun but we don’t need to lack eco consciousness while having a blast. Here are a few green tricks of the trade when it comes to doling out the treats:
- rather than candy … individually wrapped prunes (I know, sounds weird but they’re delicious), Fig Newtons, granola snack bars, pretzels, trail mix, mini boxes of raisins, shelled peanuts or pumpkin seeds.

- tasty, healthy mini bars from Nature’s Path – choose EnviroKidz treats, they’re: gluten-free, low-fat, contain no artificial preservatives and are made with certified organic ingredients. Try the Organic Koala Crispy Rice Chocolate Bars – they’re quite good.
- Terra Chips – dried veggie chips in 1 oz. trial size, 24-packs (more…)

The basic building material of these limited edition cork chairs comes from an interesting source – upcycled cork discs recovered from the interior of aluminum baseball bats.
The recycled cork waste, which is sourced from a local Portland sporting goods manufacturer, is threaded onto aluminum rods and woven into a surface using laser-cut steel sides to shape the chair profile.
The chairs go for $675 @ Quartertwenty’s Etsy Shop

I had the pleasure of receiving complimentary Mala Beads from Tiny Devotions for the purposes of this honest, Tried and True Green Product Review.
They offered to send me my choice of Mala Beads and I opted for Turquoise Ocean (purported to inspire communication, healing, balance). Upon opening the package, I was struck by how beautiful they were and couldn’t wait to try them. But first, a little background…

One special stone imbued with energetic qualities like love, healing, strength or fortune forms the centerpiece of a long necklace with 108 sacred Rudraksha seeds strung alongside. Such sacred seeds have been worn for thousands of years in traditions of yoga, Buddhism and Hinduism. (more…)
