horny toad Metamorphose dress – perfect for spring

As a native New Yorker, skepticism is in my DNA. But after trying on the Metamorphose, by Horny Toad, there’s no doubt about it: this adorable little black dress really is easily transformable and can be stylishly worn several different ways. The dress is so comfy and the fabric is so soft you almost don’t want to take it off. It feels like organic cotton but it’s not. Interestingly, it’s a blend of eco-friendly Tencel and linen.

An unfussy frock, I plan to roll it up, pack it into a travel bag, and take it on the road with me for spring-summer outings. For easy-breezy wear, I can see it as on a pre- or post-beach romp, having a few cocktails by the surf  — or dressing it up a little with sparkly jewels and shoes for a fun night out with friends. BTW, the fabric is not exactly jet black but has a very subtle grey thread woven into it, which can place it in the slightly more casual black zone. It runs full-size; if you border on a medium to large size, I’d suggest that you get the medium. Here’s the link to snag one and find more details:

Extra eco cred: the dress arrived in a little plastic bag that’s not only partially made of recycled material but also 100% recyclable.

For the purposes of this no-strings-attached Tried and True Green Product Review, I received a complimentary Metamorphose dress (retail value, $85). Thank you, Horny Toad for providing several cool additions to my eco wardrobe with one easy piece.

rustic modern: reclaimed Douglas fir Eastside coffee table

reclaimed douglas-fir coffeetable

You can almost feel the history oozing out of the exposed tree rings and grain of the Eastside Coffee Table. This rustic sturdy piece is made from salvaged old growth Douglas fir timbers. The table’s simple craftsman style is both classic and modern.

Each table is custom made and finished in non-toxic natural oils and beeswax. The two pieces of salvaged timber are held together by a single, exposed oak tenon.
