Designer and woodworker, Erin Norton, creates all manner of modern, industrial furniture from reclaimed wood. She can produce a contemporary, industrial console table with wine rack like the this one (pictured above + below) from reclaimed wood up to 150 years old.
The table can provide the perfect surface for serving holiday snacks and beverages or working on your laptop – just order the console without the wine rack. Multifunctional, it could serve nicely as either a foyer or hallway piece.
The console retails for $525 @ the urbanwoodgoods Etsy shop
We all know how important is to our health to have proper food storage containers. We don’t want toxins from non-BPA-free plastic containers leaching into our food. Rather than grab a disposable plastic bag or Ziplock – which are expensive and in most circumstances, entirely unnecessary – simply equip your kitchen with safe to use, reusable containers.
My favorite storage container of choice is clear glass – rectangular and with clear lids! They’re so practical – you can see what’s stored inside as they rest in the fridge, they’re dishwasher safe, and easy on the planet. Many glass options are microwave, oven and freezer friendly, as well. Here are a few of my favorite options:
Stainless steel is food-safe, but since it’s not transparent, it’s not my number one choice of material.
Whatever you do, be sure to avoid cheap plastic containers which can leach toxins into your food. For safe, lightweight and safe “plastic” options, check out Preserve.com for a wide array of BPA-free food prep & storage containers.
