We all know how important is to our health to have proper food storage containers. We don’t want toxins from non-BPA-free plastic containers leaching into our food. Rather than grab a disposable plastic bag or Ziplock – which are expensive and in most circumstances, entirely unnecessary – simply equip your kitchen with safe to use, reusable containers.
My favorite storage container of choice is clear glass – rectangular and with clear lids! They’re so practical – you can see what’s stored inside as they rest in the fridge, they’re dishwasher safe, and easy on the planet. Many glass options are microwave, oven and freezer friendly, as well. Here are a few of my favorite options:
- HealthyKitchen has sturdy glass containers with glass lids that can go from fridge to oven to table with style
- 18-piece Snapware Glasslock Set with BPA-free Lids
via Amazon.com (under $40)
- Pyrex Premium is a nice Pyrex collection featuring clear lids
- The Container Store has several glass lid options; I’m loving the Glasslock rectangular stacking system.
Stainless steel is food-safe, but since it’s not transparent, it’s not my number one choice of material.
Whatever you do, be sure to avoid cheap plastic containers which can leach toxins into your food. For safe, lightweight and safe “plastic” options, check out Preserve.com for a wide array of BPA-free food prep & storage containers.
