Dennis and Truro, two Loggerhead turtles who were rehabilitated at Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida were released back into the deep blue sea this morning. We were among the enthusiastic group of a few hundred who gathered to celebrate their sandy send-off.
Weighing in at a respectable 83 and 73 pounds, the two had been patients at the Center for the past couple of months. They were rescued mid-January from the freezing waters around Cape Cod after being cold stunned and suffering from hypothermia. They’ve made a full recovery.
Lucky little guys, they headed out to sea under a full head of steam and quickly disappeared into the bright blue waters. It was great to see them on their home surf!
